Hotel Policies


We currently accept credit cards as forms of payment.  If you provided a credit card number when making your reservation, it has not been debited, and is only being used to hold the reservation. Payment for the room should be made within the first day of Checking In.  We accept cash (USD, Chilean Peso, EURO), Travelers Cheques, Chilean Bank Checks, VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, and Wire Transfers.  There are several ATMs within walking distance from the hotel.  Please be advised that many other merchants in town may also not accept Credit Cards as a form of payment.

Airport Pick-Up

We provide Airport Pick-Up & Drop-Off for all passengers arriving via airplane that provide us with their flight information.  After deplaning gather your baggage and exit through the glass doors. Tupa Hotel staff will meet you as you exit the airport.  Please look for a sign with your name on it, or a sign that says “Tupa Hotel.”  From here, we will transport you to the hotel.


Normal check in time at our hotel is 13:00h. For passengers arriving earlier, baggage can be stored in the hotel until the check in time. If you would like to use the room before the normal time, an “Early Check-In” option may be available to you.  This fee of 50% of the room cost per night includes breakfast on your arrival day from 08:00h – 10:00h.  Please let us know in advance if you would like this option.


A polynesian breakfast buffet is served daily in our ocean facing dining room.  Breakfast normal hours are from 08:00h – 10:00h.  The breakfast usually includes a variety of breads, pastries, meat, cheese, seasonal fruit, cereals, juice, coffee, tea, and vegetables.  Because of our location in the middle of the ocean, there are not many diverse foods available on the island.  At times the island supply of certain fruits, foods, or other products may run out.  When this occurs we try to compensate with similar products.  We apologize if we do not have an item that you would like, and will do our best to accomodate your needs.

Check Out & Transfers:

Normal check out time in our hotel is 11:00h. If you would like to stay longer in your room past 11:00h, there may be a “Late Check-Out” option available for you.  Please let us know if you would like this option.  The cost of a Late check out will  be the 30% of the room cost per night.  For passengers leaving later, baggage can be stored in the hotel until it is time to depart for the airport.  Normally, airport transfers occur 2 hours before your departure time.  The airport transfer is only offered at the scheduled time.  Taxis are available for passengers that want to depart at a different time.

Crime & Theft:

Easter Island is very safe compared to the rest of Chile and South America.  Because of its remoteness, only petty theft is ever a nuisance to travelers.  A safety deposit box is available for our passengers at the reception desk.  Please make sure to lock all windows and doors before leaving your room, and keeping valuables out of sight.  We have a strict policy of only allowing registered passengers and our staff into the rooms of the hotel.

Free WiFi is available in the Lobby of the hotel. We also provide free transport to & from the Mataveri airport ( IPC ). Please provide your flight info when making a reservation.
